Noah is getting so big! And other things

A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking, "It's so nice that Noah is done teething for the time being, because he's been so happy and cheerful since his last set came in." Then a few days later I took a look at his smile and realized that a new tooth had popped through! So he had been teething all along, without a hint of fussiness. A few days later he got another one on the other side. It's amazing how much easier these teeth have been, compared to previous ones.

Today Noah stood alone for the first time, for a couple of seconds. I guess he liked the sensation, because he did it over and over again. I was sitting on the floor. He would grab onto my shirt and pull himself to a standing position beside me, then let go and stand alone for a few seconds with a big smile on his face before putting his little arms in the air and flopping across my lap with a giggle. So cute! I was so proud of him, I gave him a few bites of my apple crisp. He REALLY liked that.

I'm "off work" today due to Martin Luther King Day. I've been using my day off to work one of my latest projects, which is simplifying/deaccumulating. I'm going from room to room and re-organizing and sorting out things to donate or dispose of. So far I've made good progress.

Later today, I'll be giving Elijah a haircut! His hair would be easiest to cut with clippers, but he has developed an irrational fear of the clippers lately, so I'll be using a comb and scissors, which will take a bit longer, depending on his level of patience.

The sun is shining brightly today, so our living room is nice and warm in spite of the bitter cold outside. We have glass patio doors in the south wall of our living room, so when the sun shines, we get a lot of heat. Unfortunately, the doors are also quite drafty, making for a very cold living room when the sun is not shining. I hope to replace those doors someday with something more weathertight.

Off to fix lunch!

  1. Awww, I can just picture Noah being so pleased with himself for standing on his own :)

How did the haircut go? Were you at all successful? :D

  2. You are brave doing the haircut. My husband Julian does our eight boys, and my daughter Constance is learning how to do it too, and sometimes does the little boys' hair, but with scissors and comb it is quite a job - well done!
