Three things

Firstly, I've been playing around with the design of the blog.  Do you love it?  Hate it?  I haven't made up my mind whether I like it or not.  I reserve the right to change it again without notice.  That header will probably change, for one thing (but isn't that a cool hawk photo?  My mom took it).  Sorry if the changes are disorienting, and I promise that within a few days, I will settle on a final design and then leave it alone for a while. :)

Secondly, on several occasions I've gotten comments that said, in part, "Feel free to edit this if you need to."  For the record, I can't edit comments.  I can only accept or reject them as is.  If I think something needs changing, I will have to e-mail you and invite you to re-write and re-submit it.  Sorry about that.

Thirdly, I've added a page entitled "Homeschooling Resources."  I will be linking to websites and books that I have found useful, and explaining why I like them.  I hope this page will be of interest to those of you who are homeschooling young children, or plan to.  I'll be listing more resources there soon, so stay tuned.

  1. Sharon, I like the header, but don't you think the hawk should be on the other side of the title? Either that or ask him to turn his head the other way.

  2. I love it! V cool fresh feel! I've been pondering a revamp of my own but don't have the photography skills (or general creativity!) to know where to start :-)

  3. Mom, I think I like the hawk best with his back turned on my blog title.

Cath, thanks! Blogger's new design features made the revamp much easier. I like being to change fonts, background colors, column widths, etc. as I please.

I'm short on photography skills myself, which is why I borrowed my mom's photo to make this header. :) I used Picasa (free download) to crop it and add the text.

  4. Thank you for putting up the home education resources. As a newish home educator, this is really useful. I agreed with your comment about helping the cause of home education by describing your days-hearing how people home educate was helpful to us when we were thinking about this issue.
Now, I would love to be a fly on some else's wall to gain ideas especially about the best ways of presenting ideas.

  5. I like the new look. :) Especially the font of "Texan Rose". But I was wondering if you might go ahead and use the yellow rose theme in your header? I think it goes really well with the title..I don't know. I always like the idea of say..a solid black, or blue behind a bright yellow rose..like these:

I think it's really cool as it is, however. Just for the record. :)

  6. Hey Sam, you're the second person who has suggested that I go with a rose photo. I like the ones you linked, but none of them could be easily cropped to a long, narrow rectangle. Next time I'm downtown, I'll have to take my camera and check out the rose garden at the Houston Garden Center. :)
