Writer's Block!

I am still struggling with writer's block.  Or publisher's block, or whatever.  It's not that I don't have any topics in mind.  For instance, I have now been in Texas for one year.  Obviously, this calls for a post.  The theme of the post will be something along the lines of "Texas ain't half bad" but beyond that, I am stuck.  I mean, I can spit out words easily enough, but I have to strike just the right tone.  For instance, I would like to mention how nice it has been to get to know my two (very special!) little nieces, but I have to avoid being overly sentimental and embarrassing y'all.  Writing is tricky business.

Maybe I need to take my writing more seriously.
Or maybe I am taking my writing too seriously.

Maybe I should skip the writing,
and post pretty flower pictures instead.

I took these at the Houston Garden Center,
which has an extensive rose garden.

I thought they would be fitting
since this blog has "rose" in the title.

My ancient camera with the broken flash and the broken zoom
still takes pretty good pictures, if the light is  right
(diffused natural light is key).

My favorite roses of all (for now, anyway) are the yellowy-peachy roses with red tips, but I didn't see any of those.

I think one of these rose pictures should be my new avatar on Facebook and elsewhere.
But which one?  Let me know what you think.

Have a nice weekend, y'all. :)

  1. I think you're taking your writing far toooo seriously! :-) I used to be shy about saying things online, but then I finally got over it and probably say too much sometimes! But I think you've very balanced. I always enjoy your post, so get publishing them! :) I don't think anyone will be critical of what you say - we just might start to say something if you *stop* blogging!

  2. As if I didn't have enough unpublished posts, I got up this morning and wrote *three* more. What is wrong with me?! I promise I will publish at least one of them this evening.

  3. Well, you're very prolific - that can hardly be classified as something "wrong." On the contrary. I think you should post all of them - don't take blogging too seriously. It is just a blog, anyway. When you write your book (assuming you'll write a book? :D), then you can be choosy.

I, for one, really enjoy your posts.

  4. I agree the roses you posted are pretty!
God is so good to lavish such beauty upon us, isn't He? :)
Words are definitely important (see Proverbs! :))--which is probably why you take blogging seriously, which I think is a good thing! And...the more you allow what you have written to simmer in your mind before posting, it gives the Lord a chance to either spur you to post or to refrain/edit the thoughts, which is also good! :) I don't know how many times I have composed an email, for instance, but didn't have a peace in my spirit about the words that were typed, so I waited and prayed. And...then usually within a few days, I knew just what I should say...(or at least I thought I did! :).

Hope you're doing well! I imagine it's sweltering down there right now, as it has been up here. But, thunderstorms bring some relief! And, as for it being a year already that you've been gone from the Midwest, that's just amazing. May God continue to bless you all!
